Kate
I had walked all the way into a dead end. My nose was against the wall. I couldn't go on. I couldn't go back. I felt trapped, lost and helpless. Dawn held the vision of the joy and freedom on the other side of the wall, and stood beside me as I dismantled it brick by brick. Her faith in me never wavered, and now, I'm thriving. I'm writing the music, singing the songs, releasing the album. Life is beautiful. I am beauitful.
Listen...
Do you hear something bigger calling you? Do you get glimpses of something more? Something rich, full and vibrant? Something that excites and intrigues, and tugs at the explorer in you?
My feet always were itchy. Itchy for adventure, itchy for meaning, itchy to find answers to the myriad questions bubbling inside me, itchy to find my tribe and ultimately mySelf. Do you feel that way too?
Do you know there is more to who you are? Do you, as I once did, believe those missing links that hold the keys to unlocking everything, lie somewhere outside of you, possibly in the hands of someone else?
*Spoiler alert* They don't. If you're ready to admit your innate wisdom and magic, and journey with your spiritual animus in remembering, I'm ready to guide you.
What is DiscovHer?
DiscovHer is a practice-based live 12 week online group immersive for 12 women collaborators. Sessions are for 2 hours weekly and split into three parts: theory, an individual journey session, and group practice. Each participant will receive a personal sound healing, one per week.
I'll guide you through the basics of Celtic shamanic practice, shamanic drumming and journeying, and into the realm of voice alchemy. I'll support you in connecting with the power of your voice and awakening tones and sounds to alchemise individual, ancestral and collective trauma, loops, patterns, oaths, vows and promises. Transforming them into medicine for your soul.
This is not a technical class to teach you how to teach. It is a personal immersion in shamanic practice that requires you to sing, beat and dance, and to incorporate these practices into your daily life.
Drumming, singing and dancing are innate ancient behaviours that all humans possess. We've lost touch with them because they've come to be seen as special gifts and talents that only a few are born with. That couldn't be further from the truth. They are your birthrights. When you activate them you awaken powerful legacies of possibility.

‘It wasn’t until I started working with Dawn, that I learned how this search for external validation and acceptance, had disconnected me from myself. Dawn expertly guided me on a deep journey into myself, and provided me with a safe space where I could explore and uncover the woman I am underneath decades of false beliefs.’
DiscovHer Embodiment and Brain and Nervous System Health
When did you last sense the connection between your feet and the earth? Have you ever done that? Can you do it now?
If you aren’t inhabiting your body, all the way to your feet, then how can you stand on your own two feet? The answer is, you can’t.
Being disembodied makes it hard to make decisions, trust yourself, feel secure in your choices, and have confidence in your capability.
Being dysregulated increases stress and anxiety, limits creativity and connection, wrecks your resilience, and your ability show up, be present and stand firm.
Without a solid foundation, deep roots, and a firm footing it’s impossible to develop a trusting relationship with yourself.
Drumming and singing anchor us in our bodies. Sound rhythm and vibration reverberate through our bones, muscle fibres, brain tissue and cellular structure. Our bodies are complex musical instruments tuned to resonate with each other and our environment through entrainment.
Drumming and singing facilitate structural and functional changes in our brain, foster neuroplasticity and reshape neural networks. They increase and deepen emotional resonance, regulate our nervous system and activate sensory-motor processing. Drumming in particular, strengthens the connection between both hemispheres of the brain.
Our ancestors knew what we've forgotten. They didn't engage in these profound practices merely for entertainment. Drum and voice were used in ritual, ceremony, prayer, and to access altered states of consciousness enabling shamans to journey to ancestral and divine realms to retrieve information.

Growing up in a white religious family in South Africa, I was told the drums I could hear in the distance at night were evil. To me, that meant that the yearning in my body to dance to the rhythm made me evil too. Coming to this practice helped me clear religious and generational trauma. Using my voice to sing in circle with other women re-established my confidence in mySelf and empowered me to leave my broken marriage, job and disordered relationship with food.

‘I look back now at how much I’ve changed. I’m happy just being. My physical and mental health have improved and I'm no longer worried about people judging me. I've let go of perfectionism and am so much more comfortable saying "no". I received a management promotion and am using my increased confidence to embed more emotional intelligence in the organisation. I feel more authentic and powerful than ever.
FAQs
When does DiscovHer start?
DIscovHer is a rolling immersive with progressive start dates throughout the year. It's also offered to cater for different time zones if there are enough people from that time zone waiting to join. Get in touch to be added to the list for your region.
Do I need a drum?
No, you don't need a drum. You can sing or move along to my drum, or you can clap or use your body for percussion if that feels right to you. You could also make a simple rattle by putting some rice or pebbles in an empty container. Easy.
How much time do I have to commit to the program?
It’s totally up to you. The minimum commitment required from you is to show up for the 120-minute group call each week. However, the more time you spend integrating the work between sessions, the more magic can happen.
I’m not in New Zealand. Can I still join?
Yes! You can join from anywhere in the world. I offer DiscovHer in different time zones if there are enough people to make it viable.
Do you have a refund policy?
Refunds will not be made once the course has started.
Do I need any experience in shamanism?
No. This immersive won't make you a shaman. It exposes you to, and immerses you in, shamanic practice, as well as other things. It's just another way of tapping into your inner wisdom and opening you to a deeper spiritual experience.
