Equine Therapy
The horses will change you
Anyone who has spent any time around horses can tell you that after interacting with them, even in a small way, you feel changed.
Horses connect with us without expectation.
Their acceptance and non-judgment are unconditional.
They are curious, playful, sentient animals, capable of displaying complex emotional responses.
Many say it’s as if they can read minds, or can see into our souls.
Horses have been an integral part of the healing of many of my clients and pivotal in my recovery from anorexia.
Learn about the healing power of horses. Dawn Marron hosted a TEDx talk that showcases how Equine Therapy can used to heal your body, specifically anorexia.
Horses' hearts can synchronise with ours, indicating that they feel what we feel. They help to calm and connect us. They help us to regulate our emotions and soothe our nervous systems.
Are you ready to experience the healing of horses?
Many decades of research have been carried out on the therapeutic benefits of working with horses.
From a scientific perspective, the magic of equine assisted therapy (EAT) is in the horse's coherent heart patterns and naturally high amplitudes of very low frequency heart rhythms.
Both these things are a solid measure of mental, emotional and physical health and indicators of a system that can recover and adapt from stressful situations efficiently.
The horses reflect your deepest inner state, bring your issues to light, and guide and support you as you follow their lead.
Their anchored presence provides you with an exit ramp from anxiety, fear or overwhelm. They’ll demand that you inhabit more of your body and stop existing in deference, and powerfully impact how you understand yourselves.
Equine Assisted Therapy in Aotearoa
In the USA, the UK, and other countries, equine therapy is a prescribed therapy that anyone can access via the health system.
Here in Aotearoa, New Zealand, we’re lagging behind when it comes to understanding the importance of including these kinds of alternative approaches to healing mental health.
I am so grateful to be one of only a few practitioners here in this beautiful country offering this incredibly powerful therapeutic container for those who might benefit from it.
